" Date: Thursday, February 23, 2017 Location: 1902 Whitestone Expressway, Suite 204, Whitestone, NY 11357 Lecture 7:00pm to 9:00pm Course Code 490 2 MCE Credit Hours About the Speaker: Dr. Jacques Doueck Dr. Doueck is a staff member at local sleep labs, providing oral appliance therapy for CPAP intolerant patients. Dr. Doueck writes a monthly article on state-of-the-art dentistry for “Community” magazine and a weekly article on Dental Sleep medicine for local magazines. Course Description: The biggest challenges include dealing with the insurance companies, getting medical doctors to comfortably work with dentists in treating a serious medical condition and dealing with the occlusal changes that can be a side effect of oral appliance therapy. Understanding the players and having good systems are critical to success in dental sleep medicine. At the end of this intro course the participant will: Understand the medical doctors - their concerns and needs and how it impacts on dentists treating snoring and sleep apnea. Understand the Insurance companies - realistic and not so realistic requirements. Identify the day to day tasks critical to successfully treating sleep apnea in a dental practice.
The New York State constituent of the Academy of General Dentistry is an approved program provider. The sponsor’s formal CDE programs are acceptable by the AGD for Fellowship and Mastership and membership maintenance credit. This course is also acceptable for MCE Licensing Maintenance.
