Course Goals and Objectives

Performing lifesaving techniques and choosing the appropriate medicine and equipment is far more challenging in the dental office than in other settings.  As healthcare professionals and doctors, you are held to a much higher standard of care.  In order to achieve this goal, dentists and their staff should take a course that combines CPR and emergency medicine in dentistry. Topics my course will cover are as follows:

Signs & Symptoms and Definitive Care

  • Heart Attacks/CPR and Strokes                 Emergency Drug Kits/Masks
  • Positive Pressure Oxygen                         Correct Positioning of Patient in Dental Chair

  • Anaphylactic reactions                              Hyperventilation

  • Airway Obstruction (Choking)                   Legal aspects/Standard of Care

  • Angina Pectoris                                          Standard of care

  • Seizures                                                       Positive pressure oxygen masks

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest/Defibrillation        Syncope

  • Emergency plans with role designation

  • Drug overdose

Each participant will receive a 2 year certification card from the American Heart Association
